The Way I See It # 568
I feel weird.
The weather is pretty awful today. Earlier I was soaked through, but the rain has actually stopped for the most part, however humidity is thick, and once I step outside my hair is going to rebel in a pretty serious fashion.
But I can't stand being in my apartment for right now. I feel claustrophobic, like if I stay here I'm going to start feeling miserable. I wish I had a milkshake.
It is "Bookseller Appreciation Week" at Barnes and Noble, so I think I will head over there and peruse. There have been some topics I've wanted to look up. I might go to the library as well, I mean.... that would definitely be cheaper, even with the 45% discount that comes with Bookseller Appreciation.
I need to check back with all the places I applied. I'll do that. I definitely need to go back to VCU Creative Services and see if they're calling people. They said if not today, then they would be calling on Monday. Also, I need to go back to Elephant Thai, that seemed really promising.
So I left this Blogger window open and went to the bookstore. Now I'm back, and I've been doodling. I attempted another stencil on my foot, but it looks terrible, so I won't even throw a picture up.
I bonded with a co-worker over tattoos, so that was neat, and I got a book on Sailor Jerry.
The bookstore was not as pleasant as I thought it would be. I walked around and looked at books, and found some awesome ones, but I guess it's just not the same when you work there.
oh well... I'll have to head over to Richmond Books to get lost in the dusty shelves sometime.

The Way I See It # 567
I should have taken a nap before work. I went to bed at 5 am.
Here's why I didn't take a nap:
1. Apartment business
2. Kittens
3. Automatic programs on piano keyboards
4. Hunger.
I took picture of Iris, I would have posted them, but that might be creepy since she's not my cat.
I have 15 minutes until I have to leave...
man, I'm going to pass out when I get home.

The Way I See It # 566: Stencil Attempt # 1
I've been playing around the idea of tattoos for a while, and I've been thinking about creating a stencil for a Henna tattoo in order to try something out. The only problem is, is that the design I want to try out is much too complicated with shading, etc, to work in henna. So I've been playing around with simple lines, and black ink.
Creating the stencils have been both time consuming and frustrating, as I've been making them out of paper.
I had some free time tonight, so I attempted to cut out the image of 2 cranes, but I actually ended up drawing most of it free-hand.... and upside down.
Here's the result, the picture quality definitely helps in covering up some of my mistakes.

I used water-proof liquid eyeliner, which actually holds up fairly well for a couple days if you don't scrub at it excessively. However, the application is tricky, and it's easy to over apply, and an unsteady hand is probably the most trouble you'll come across.
There are surgical pens you can buy online, which I've heard are good for stenciling, as they don't rub off easily. The only problem is that they're surgical grade and are expensive. I think I'm going to sit these out.
I'll have to go back to the drawing board, I think.
